The Namib Desert Adventure
In a word, Namibian safari is hardcore, designed for adventure-seekers. This was the safari that shook me awake, more than any other. Riding across the Namib desert at full speed, your horse is more endurance athlete than humble steed. You ride at the mercy of your own confidence, challenging body, mind and spirit on a stallion that will make you feel truly alive. Purple sunsets, red desert plains and sleeping beneath the milky way make the challenge even sweeter.
Every moment of this 350km ride presented a learning experience. I was exhausted and weary but I was mastering my own fear. After 9 hours in the saddle each day, I could feel new threads of personal transformation being woven into my sense of self.
Riding from the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei to the beaches of Swakopmund, I learned the depth of my passion for safari and that limits only exist in my mind.
If you’re looking for a safari that will transform your relationship with yourself and see you catch the lifelong “safari bug” – this is it.

Namibia styling & packing tips
Blend into Namibia’s immense and untamed beauty with clothing that feels both practical and poetic. The terrain is overwhelmingly vast—wide open rocky plains, sandy stretches, and the occasional patch of hardy grassland. The scale is breathtaking, and the landscapes shift dramatically as you ride for hours under the endless sky. To feel at home in this environment, opt for classic safari silhouettes in natural fibers like cotton and linen. Soft earth tones—think clay, stone, dust, and pale olive—will connect you to the land and photograph effortlessly in the ever-changing desert light.
This is an endurance safari. Days are long, often hot, with cold nights setting in as the sun drops quickly over the horizon. Managing your temperature is key: pack versatile layers that can easily adapt to changing conditions—lightweight long sleeves, a vest, and a scarf or buff will go a long way. Good quality breeches are essential for comfort across long hours in the saddle. Add a wide-brimmed hat for sun protection, durable sunglasses, and lip balm to guard against the dry air. Keep your gear minimal, rugged, and ready for the raw beauty of the ride.
